Stories are at the core of what make us human beings, and they reflect who we are as a collective. Storytelling is one of the oldest medicines. They carry our collective memory and our potential for a transformed future. In this vein, Makwa is a medicine story in the tradition of story medicine. It is a potent medicine for the shapeshifting times we’re in. Makwa is a crime thriller. It deals with themes of healing, abuse, trauma, the shadow, diversity, inclusivity, relationships, sexuality, religion, spirituality, ancient wisdom, animal spirits, the supernatural, AI, climate change, the near future and the ancient past. It’s a story of hope and redemption that can help chart a way through these anxious precarious times of fear, separation and our unknown future. Makwa is a homage of love to ourselves, each other, and the planet.

Johnny Cole is a filmmaker, photographer, writer, healer, and mentor. He often bridging his artistic and creative endeavors with his passion for understanding human nature, modern depth psychology, and spirituality. He ultimately aims to empower, educate, and inspire people with creativity and the knowledge that each and everyone us has a unique potential to share. He is anchored in the firm belief that we are all creators, and that story has the power to transform ourselves and the world(s) we live in.
